Solid Maple Toddler Plate - 7 inch diameter

Made of a solid piece of face grain maple this plate is seven inches in diameter and has three sections.  Being a solid piece of wood there are no glue products used.  Because of this there may be minor cupping due to humidity differences once these arrive.  They are allowed to sit before shipping and any plates with excessive  movement in the wood will not be shipped and a new plate will be made to replace it.

This is offered in two options for finish. Tung oil and board butter.   Each has their own benefits and drawbacks and you have the option to choose what is best for your needs.

Tung oil will protect the wood from the inside out and is not a surface film wood finish.  The tung oil used is product called Half and Half from Real Milk Paint. It is made from pure tung oil and a citrus solvent used to help the tung oil penetrate the wood. 

Board butter protects the surface of the wood with minimal penetration.  The board butter used is made in house and contains only beeswax, fractionated coconut oil and carnuba wax. It will need to be reapplied after the first few washings and when the wood begins to appear dry on the surface. We also sell 100g tins of the board butter.

These are made and finished to order.
